Youth Homelessness and Housing Security

Youth Homelessness and Housing Security  is one of the most difficult problems facing  in our community.California is home to the largest of young people experiencing youth homelessness in the country. At just six cents of every dollar spent on youth homelessness services in San Francisco is directed towards young people. We believe that basic needs must be met for the work of healing to begin.

There are many reasons that causes youth homelessness rooted in abuse, neglect, addiction, mental illness and family conflict.Living on the streets has negative impacts on physical health, mental health, and overall well-being.Young people experiencing youth homelessness report exploitation, traumatization, violence, and harsh conditions, all of which impact health and wellness.

Our organization is a resourceful youth-positive and strength-based organization that asset in obtainable housing and support. Based on a national survey and other data, between 1.6 and 2.1 million youth ages 12-24 are homeless over the course of a year, including: Ages 12 to 17: from 1.6 to 1.7 million over a year. About 300,000 to 400,000 youth might be expected to be homeless on a single day.

The State of California lacks the resources and the cross-system collaboration to meet the needs of these young people.We believe that every young person should have access to basic living essentials housing, food, clothing and education. And every person should have a chance to reach their full potential.
